I completely agree.

Since reading inspires imagination and creative thought, I have taken to writing notes as I read.

I come up with many revelations. And, deepen my understanding both of what I'm reading and of my own conceptualizations and newly developing points of view.

It's heartening to know that you engage in a similar way.
