13 Words which Encourage Me to be Soft

Hi Elephant Journal,

I suppose your intention here is to introduce and reenforce the idea that being soft stands as essential to being yourself.

A good reminder.

Still, this article seems to me not fleshed out in a way which might effectively encourage or support people actually to be soft.

It’s like telling a person to “Love her/himself” without delving into how.

As a matter of fact, as a spiritual teacher, I share with people the how in ‘How to Love Yourself!”

Sure.

Being soft stands as an effective instruction. That is, as long as the instruction includes how to move through years of indoctrination which support being hard.

How do you remain soft when it seems the world. and some people in it, attack and try to bring you down? How to remain soft as you are misunderstood and not seen?

I often say, “Faith only matters when you don’t have it!™”

Anyone can be soft when surrounded by supportive dynamics and effectively caring family members and friends.

The question is can you be soft when chaos and controversy greet you?

That’s where the conversation really begins.

PS = The title seems a bit deceptive to me. I thought the story would include “13 specific, separate words to remind me that Being Soft is a Superpower.”

Instead, I got a quote from Lao Tzu.

A nice quote, to be sure.

Yet, one which remains unexamined. and un-applied.

Mutual.

Symbiotic.
